Description of the organisation

The first-aider in mental health notebooks is a collection of informative notebooks created by PSSM France (first aid in mental health) in collaboration with MFHA international. The PSSM France seeks to train citizens to provide first aid to people dealing with mental health issues. In addition to the training, PSSM France is developing these short and colourful notebooks addressed to first aiders and to anyone wanting to train oneself and adopt good practices regarding mental health disorders.

Good practice

These notebooks have been created with the opinion of experts in the field of the different disorders addressed in the collection. These professionals in mental health are coming from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New-Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The first-aiders notebooks aim to provide first-aiders in mental health with tools, tips and guidelines to adopt the appropriate behaviour and to have the adequate answers to various scenarios (how to accompany better depression, a person with suicidal thoughts, how to better understand panic attacks…). The first-aider’s task is to support the person until they receive help from a professional.
These notebooks contain sections such as:

  • Informative content
  • Do’s and don’ts
  • How to talk about it
  • How to approach the person concerned
