Context
Nowadays, Mental Health is a prioritary topic for the vast majority of people around the world. Not only because many of them, mostly teenagers, struggle with it – according to Unicef, suicide is the second leading cause of death among European adolescents in 2022 – but also because it is still stigmatised, leading suffering people to be even more isolated and unheard.
Breaking Taboos About Mental Health is an European project aimed at:
- fighting the stigma surrounding mental health and mental health disorders
- raising awareness among people, especially the young ones.
- training professionals involved with teenagers aged between 15 and 19.
Partnership Engagement
To reach this goal, the partners are working on the creation of useful resources:
- A Prevention kit – It contains a guide for youth workers, infographics, posters and a booklet in clear language for young people
- 5 interactive comics – About mental health disorders as a means to increase awareness and to offer another support to teenagers
- 30 Pedagogical and activity sheets for professionals – Aimed at integrating theoretical knowledge into daily practice.
- A Self-assessment quiz – For youth workers to evaluate their knowledge about mental health issues
- 25 Best Practices – To get inspired from innovative organisations and actions on mental health prevention led in Europe
We strongly believe that mental health should be a topic of primary importance in everyone’s life. At the same time, we want to contribute to breaking the stigma surrounding it by creating a fertile ground for sharing and participation, with the aim of building a happier, and above all healthier, future together.
